Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Struffle processes, why it is needed, and how users can request access, correction, or deletion. Struffle is a streaming discovery and watchlist app. It does not stream full movies or series directly inside the app.

1. Who this applies to

This policy applies to the Struffle mobile app, the related public website at struffle.de, and the support flows connected to account deletion and user requests.

2. What Struffle processes

  • Account data such as email address, login state, and basic profile information.
  • App profile data such as username, avatar, language, provider preferences, and onboarding choices.
  • Discovery and taste signals such as likes, dislikes, seen items, watchlist entries, ratings, reviews, and list activity.
  • Social data such as follows, follow requests, direct messages, shared recommendations, and pair-session activity.
  • Beta waitlist data such as email address, signup source, locale, and referrer if a visitor joins through the website.
  • Optional push-notification tokens if the user enables notifications.
  • Optional diagnostics and error events when crash or error reporting is configured.
  • Optional contacts data when a user chooses contact sync. In that case, phone numbers and contact names may be processed to find existing Struffle users. Struffle does not store the user's full address book as a standalone contact database.

3. Why Struffle processes this data

  • To authenticate users and keep accounts available across devices.
  • To personalize recommendations and improve the quality of discovery results.
  • To let users save, rate, review, and organize titles.
  • To enable social features such as following, messaging, and pair sessions.
  • To manage beta access and notify waitlist members when Struffle access opens.
  • To deliver notifications when the user has explicitly allowed them.
  • To diagnose errors, improve stability, and protect the service from abuse or fraud.

4. Contacts and friend discovery

Contact sync is optional. If a user grants access, Struffle reads contact names and phone numbers on the device and uses them to look for matching accounts. This is meant to help users find friends already using the app.

Struffle does not store the user's entire address book as a separate reusable contact directory. Contact information is used for matching and related friend-discovery flows only.

5. Notifications

Push notifications are optional. If enabled, Struffle processes a push token so notifications can be sent to that device. Notifications are not required to use the core product.

6. Diagnostics and crash reporting

Struffle may process error or crash events to keep the app stable. This can include app version, platform, runtime environment, and technical error context. In the current setup, this reporting is intended for diagnostics and operations, not advertising or cross-app tracking.

7. Third-party content sources

Struffle uses movie and series metadata from third-party sources such as TMDB. The app includes the required TMDB attribution notice in-app. This content is used to support discovery, watchlist, and availability views.

8. Tracking and advertising

The current version of Struffle is free and non-monetized. It does not use App Tracking Transparency, and it is not intended to perform cross-app or cross-site advertising tracking in this release.

9. Retention and deletion

Users can request deletion inside the app or through the external support path at /delete-account. Account deletion is intended to remove profile data, watchlists, ratings, reviews, lists, and related account-linked data. Some information may be retained for a limited time where required for security, fraud prevention, backups, or legal compliance.

Beta waitlist entries are kept until the waitlist purpose is fulfilled or removal is requested. Waitlist removal requests can be sent to support@struffle.de.

10. User rights and contact

Users who want to ask about access, correction, or deletion can contact support@struffle.de.
